Polish universities are getting worse and worse? Declines in the ranking of top universities
The leaders of the latest world ranking of the best universities are American universities, with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at the forefront. The highest ranked Polish university – Warsaw University – was in the fourth hundred.
The QS World University Ranking has been prepared for more than a dozen years by The Times Higher Education and an organization specializing in education topics – Quacquarelli Symonds. The podium this year went to American universities. The first place was taken by the already mentioned Myth. Stanford University ranked second, and third place went to Harvard University. The top ten also includes two American universities, four British universities and one from Switzerland.
This year’s ranking of the best universities took into account nine Polish szkoHigher education institutions, three more than a year ago. The highest ranked Polish university is on places 411-420. This is down from 366. position. On the same position was classified roalso m.in. Kazakhstan National Technical University or Kiev National University im. Taras Shevchenko. The next Polish university in the ranking is Jagiellonian University, whichory was placed at 461-470. Here, too, we recorded a drop from 431. position.
Warsaw University of Technology was ranked 601-650, and this is the same result as in the previous survey. In positions 801-1000 were placed ex aequo: Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the Academy of Gorniczo-Hutnicza in Cracow and Wroclaw University of Technology, whichore made their debut in the ranking. The same places received the University of Łodzki, the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun and the University of Wroclaw scored a drop of 100 positions.
The ranking consists of several factorsow. In 40 percent. It depends on the opinion of lecturersow. At 20 percent. from the ratio of the number of lecturersow to studentow. Also in the 20 percent. It depends on the number of scientific publications. The following are taken into account: the opinion of the employerow (10 percent.), the percentage of lecturersoin foreign (5% of.) and the percentage of studentoin foreign ( 5 percent.).
